Makeup and Skincare: Mary Kay Review!

I’ve heard some great things about Mary Kay, so when Batsheva Chaimovits asked me if I was interested in doing a review of Mary Kay products, I of course jumped on the chance! And dear readers, I promise that my review is the truth about how I really feel about the products.

So how about I share some of my favorite products? Yeah? Ok awesome (Clearly, I can carry a full conversation all by myself)!

My absolute favorite product is hands down Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lipgloss. The texture is perfect, only slightly sticky, and it lasts a lot longer than most of my other lip glosses. Rock’n’Red is a brilliant, fiery red  and now my all time favorite lip gloss. I’m wearing it in the middle picture and top left.

Another favorite is the Creme Lipstick. It really does feel creamy and imparts rich color that really lasts. It comes in so many pretty shades. I’m wearing Pink Satin on the bottom left, the bottom right is a mix of pink satin with Fancy Nancy Nourishine Lipgloss.

The Mineral Eye Color eyeshadows are so well priced and really nice! Most other mineral eyeshadows have much drier textures but this one goes on really smoothly and there’s a really nice color selection, some matte, some shiny. Gold Coast is a great brow bone highlighter and Lavender Fog is a nice, matte, smoky purple.

Now, moving onto skincare! I can only share with you what I tried for my skin type, but if you have questions about what products to use for your face, Batsheva can help you with that.

Timewise Night Restore & Recover Complex-Combination/Oily is a great, lightweight, fragrance-free moisturizer that works best for skin that is slightly dry or slightly oily (The one for Normal/Dry is great too for dry or normal skin!). If your skin is very oily, this might be too heavy for you. It has a great mix of antioxidants and cell-communicating ingredients that works to repair the skin surface and prevent moisture loss.

Deep Cleanser (Formula 3) is a really good cleanser that removes makeup well and doesn’t have fragrance. It works well for normal to slightly oily skin.

Acne Treatment Gel is only $7 and a great gel based 5% benzyl peroxide topical disinfectant that also has some anti-irritants to soothe your skin. Some people find benzyl peroxide very drying but if you have acne, it’s really helpful.

Oil-free makeup remover  is pretty awesome too. Fragrance-free, silicone enhanced, and works quickly to remove all sorts of makeup.

So anyway, these are some of my favorite products. Please feel free to call or text Batsheva at 917-848-0086, visit her website at and e-mail her at She does home/office delivery for free and ships anywhere for really low rates. You can also make a fun party with some friends and make a commission-really easy money!

What I Want Wednesday: Ombre!

Ombre has been on my mind a lot lately! It started with an e-mail….
Refinery 29 asked me if I wanted to do a photo shoot of an ombre hair tutorial. As fun as that may sound, I’m kind of a chicken when it comes to anything relatively permanent regarding my hair. My keratin treatment is as adventurous as it gets. And once, three years ago, I got side bangs. Yeah, crazy, I know! But I’ve never dyed my hair before and I’ve seen so many bad ombre dye jobs so I figured I’d stay away this time.
But I’m all about wearing ombre! My friend Jenny over at Crazy Style Love had a great photo of the blue ombre heels (pictured below) on her facebook page today. I’m kind of obsessed with ombre; not even going to pretend otherwise, so it kicked off the inspiration for this week’s edition of “What I Want Wednesday.”

What I want Wednesday-Runway Addition

So usually the items I post on “What I Want Wednesday” are a range of prices… some more affordable than others. Well, after I saw this exquisite, perfect, amazing (you think I like?) Jenny Packham dress, I decided to do my favorite runway gowns so far from the Fall 2013 shows. And no, I probably won’t ever be able to afford gowns like these, but a girl can always dream!

Dear Jenny Packham,

I know you’re totally reading this. Obviously. And I know you have fallen in love with my charm (and good looks). And I know you want to give me this gown. Of course you do. For my wedding? Please? (The guy will come, don’t worry, that part can be taken care of.)

                                                              Thanks in advance, Shira

DVF Lace Dress-Brightening My Winter Wardrobe

I bought a fun lace dress at the DVF (Diane von Furstenberg) sample sale a couple months ago and was saving it to wear it in the Spring. Well, then I became impatient (as I often tend to be) and decided that I wanted to wear it already! Why not wear bold, bright colors in the Winter? I think it totally can brighten your mood!
