In a word (or two), heck yes!! I’ve never owned a maxi skirt because I’ve never found one I could pull off. My most recent failed attempt was when I tried on a gorgeous colorblocked maxi skirt at Anthropologie. I looked like I was drowning in layers of fabric and the hemming I would need to do would cut off all the pretty colorblocking. When I was recently browsing through Ann Taylor (window shopping of courseee), I saw this skirt and loved the vibrant blue colors but knew it would be a big fail. When I saw it in the petite section, I thought I may as well give it a shot. I tried on the petite and was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t look like a homeless cat lady! I’m wearing it a little high up and one size smaller than I usually wear but I think it works. If you’re petite, I’d suggest only looking maxi skirts that are carried in petite sizes. I’ve personally found that pleated maxis don’t work for my frame, but that’s just me!
Notice anything interesting in these photos? Hmm?? Yep-my shirt is tucked in with most of them! The first half was untucked of course until Chani kept telling me to tuck it in and I finally listened to her and….the results aren’t bad. I’m a pretty self conscious person (not that you would know from all the pictures of me hehe) so I don’t think I’d keep it tucked in for more than 5 minutes but small steps!
When I went to an outlet mall with my mother a few weeks ago, I found this ombre sweater for a ridiculously cheap price. And it’s perfect for those days you don’t feel like getting dressed; where you want to be comfy and casual while still feeling cute. You know those days? Well, a cozy ombre sweater meets the criteria (in my head) of comfy, cozy, but super cute. Paired with a denim skirt and ballet flats, it’s my comfy weekend outfit.
Oh, and how confusing is this weather? One day I’m in tights and boots, the next I’m in a floral summer dress! There are only so many in between outfits I can wear… But I put my foot down last week and decided no more black tights until the Fall. I don’t care how cold it gets, my legs will be bare until I’m ready for tights and boots again! I’d move to L.A. where there is pretty much perfect weather all year round but I’m scared of earthquakes. Or Hawaii but volcanoes are just as scary! But the truth is that most of my friends and family as well as my job are here in Brooklyn, NY.
