How To Dress Modestly In The Summer Heat!

I’ve often gotten comments about my choice of clothes in the summer. People ask me how I wear sleeves when it’s 100 degrees outside without dying…and let’s be real for a second; when it’s 100 degrees outside, whether or not I wear sleeves will not make much of a difference. If I chose to walk around in a bikini or tank top and booty shorts, I doubt I’d be much cooler. It’s still a billion degrees outside and I’ll be uncomfortable and sweaty no matter what.
With that being said, what’s the best way to dress modestly in sticky, hot summer weather? I’ve found that I feel most comfortable in a lightweight loose fitting dress. A shift dress or a shirtdress is my best friend in the summer! Here are some of my favorite dresses from the summer (top left is Zara, bottom left is BCBG, top right is Gap and bottom right is Trinity Place. The middle is Gap with more details below on the full look).

Fall Wish List!

Listen, I AM fully embracing summer and loving my florals, neons, pastels, and breezy dresses. But I do have my eye on one or two (or ten?) items that I’d love for the fall. Please note, that some of these are in the “in my dreams” category; meaning that it’s WAY out of my budget but a girl can always dream! What’s on your fall wish list?

1 I would LOVE to own these! How gorgeous is the color and of course the bow detail is amazing!
2 A fun, printed tee is always on my wish list and here is the sweatshirt version. You can dress it down with denim or dress it up with a pencil skirt, blazer, and fabulous statement necklace!
3 O.M.G. No words to describe these beauties. The adorable heart print and metallic heel is to die for.
4 I love the (faux) leather panels in this black pencil skirt.Totally appropriate for work and the leather adds a fun element.
5 The perfect statement necklace. That is all.
6 A beautiful bag with amazing texture and colors. If I could own every Loeffler Randall piece, I would!
7 Absolutely beautiful and classic. The color and texture is gorgeous and so versatile. Just when I think Gigi NY can’t up their game anymore, they pull something out like this! Gorgeous!
8 Affordable, beautiful cobalt and suede pumps.
9 If I don’t end up with this dress, I’ll end up with this one. Madewell has so many gorgeous dresses that are easy to dress down or wear to work. I have to make a stop there one day next week!

Black And White Graphic Print Dress

Following a lot of fashion bloggers is a dangerous, dangerous habit- especially when a new season is approaching. Am I right?? Suddenly, I’m dreaming of leathers, suede, eggplants and navies and my fall wish list is getting more expansive (and expensive) by the minute! To all you shopaholics out there, how do you work on limiting the excessive spending? Do you even try? Yes, I’m admitting to my -sort of- shopping problem. If any of you are dealing with similar struggles, please share your experiences and tips if you have them! 😉

On another note, I experimented with another print mix in the outfit below. A bold, black and white graphic dress with a subtle chambray polka dot print shirt. What do you think about it?

Tagged by the stylish and sweet Sandy a la mode for answering 6 questions. Here goes!
1. Tell us something we don’t know about you. I’m really sensitive and it’s something that comes as a surprise to people because I come across as very confident and self assured (which I am too!). Also, I have duel citizenship because although my parents are american, they had me in Israel but moved back to NY a few weeks after I was born.
2. What’s your favorite beauty secret or product? Ok….so I’m about to change your life. For realzzz, you guys! Paula’s Choice is my beauty savior. Seriously, I do not buy a single beauty product without first checking her reviews to see if the product really IS all that it claims to be! I am so much more informed about proper skincare and makeup than before I was introduced to her. Seriously, you don’t realize how much we buy into ridiculous beauty claims!
3.Favorite movie, song, or tv show? Project Runway for sure. After that, Law and Order SVU!
4.What is your favorite or go-to outfit? I don’t really have a go-to outfit lately because umm….my clothing collection has kind of piled up hahaha! But this is my favorite summer dress and for some reason I’m loving this outfit. Ohhh, and my maxi skirt! But the actual clothing item I wear most is this denim skirt.
5. What’s a current dream that you’re hoping to achieve? Firstly, I’d like to get my LCSW (clinical social work degree- Right now I have my LMSW. If I work under a supervisor in a clinical setting for 3 years, I can take another test to receive an LCSW). Secondly, I’d like to see my blog become more successful. It’s already become more than I’ve ever expected and I’m so grateful; I’m just enjoying the journey and excited to see where it takes me! Oh, and I’d like to write a memoir. But it’ll be anonymous for sure because it’s very personal so you won’t know about it if it happens!;)
6. Who or what inspires you? My 7 (almost 8!!) year old sister. I want to be a role model for her, specifically in regards to self love and confidence. I don’t want her to be insecure about her body like I was as a kid. I don’t want her to be another girl that talks about hating her body and needing to diet. I’m more than a body, a whole lot more than a number on the scale, and for me to model that for my sister, I need to actually believe and embody that so that she can too. Am I making sense here?

A Pretty Floral Dress and Chambray Dots

I’m seriously obsessed with this Anthropologie Dress! My favorite aspect of the dress is the gorgeous, fluttery 3D flowers. It has a relaxed fit but can easily be belted to create more definition at the waist. It also can be dressed up or down depending on the styling so it’s really versatile as well.
