After months of being completely isolated, I’ve spent a lot of time at the beach these last two weeks (and if it gets crowded I leave of course). Nature is so soothing and I don’t know why I didn’t think to do this earlier in the summer. The beach is about a 25-minute drive from my house and it’s made the last few weeks infinitely better.
A lot of people seem to be struggling more these last few weeks. I’ve been hearing it from clients, from friends; we’re all just trying to navigate these challenging times. My friends with children are struggling in trying to navigate their careers + childcare and people like me are trying to navigate the isolation. I’ve realized that to protect my mental health, I need to see humans IRL. So I’ve had some one-on-one friend dates with people I know taking COVID-19 seriously and that’s been really important.
Kelly shot these photos during golden hour at a little beach nearby. I found this dress on Amazon (here) and it wasn’t as loose-fitting as the other mint green dress I have from this brand (I’m wearing it on the blog here) so I wasn’t thrilled – but I still love the bold blue shade and have been wearing it. All the dresses that I’ve received in the last couple of months are all a little longer than I’d prefer but that’s the life of a shortie I guess! You’ll see it in the upcoming looks I share. I actually prefer dresses to hit right above my knees but don’t want to spend a fortune at the tailor right now!
PS: I’m holding my hair in some photos because the wind was out of control; it wasn’t an intentional pose hehe!
Photography thanks to Kelly West, check out her instagram and facebook page.
