It’s been a while since I’ve shared an outfit on the blog so I figured I’d share this colorful striped dress with you. I’ve been avoiding making clothing purchases as my body continues to change because it doesn’t make sense to spend money on something that might only work for half a season.
Some of you guys going through recovery too (or just struggling with changing bodies) have asked how I deal with clothing shopping so I thought I’d share how I approach shopping for my body right now.
I generally only buy things that are roomy and over-sized (recent example on the blog here) so that there’s room for my changing body. I also can’t deal with anything even being the slightest bit clingy right now so I’m all about loose-fitting clothes. If it’s something like jeans that I need in my current size, I’ll get them very cheap so that when they no longer fit, I don’t feel as bummed. I’m definitely not getting any investment pieces at this point! And comfort is key right now.
I made an exception for this dress because it was on sale for $14 but I wore it the other day and it’s already feeling tighter. I actually wanted to rip it off my body and couldn’t concentrate on anything other than the feeling of the belt across my waist alllll day. Lesson learned to only wear comfortable, loose-fitted clothes right now until I feel a bit more solid in recovery and in my body. I’m sharing some fun striped dresses up to size 28 in the slideshow at the bottom of the post so check it out for some cute options.
